As part of the St. Petersburg Foundation’s mission of building capacity through its operational partnership with Pinellas County at the Lealman Exchange, the St. Petersburg Foundation (SPF) created the Lealman Swim Program, which equips kids in underserved Lealman with essential swimming skills and provides workforce training opportunities to young adults looking to earn their lifeguard certification.
In November 2024, the second cohort of the program wrapped up. To date, the St. Petersburg Foundation, in partnership with the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg and Community Foundation Tampa Bay, has provided swim lessons to 35 children.
