St. Petersburg Foundation Welcomes Julie Mastry to its Board of Directors

St. Petersburg Foundation is proud to announce the appointment of Julie Mastry to its Board of Directors.

Julie Mastry brings more than five decades of distinguished service to Pinellas County — a career built from the classroom up and defined by leadership across public education, philanthropy, and the arts.

She began as a teacher and Assistant Principal at Lakewood High School before serving as Principal at St. Petersburg and Countryside High Schools. She went on to make history as the first female Superintendent of Pinellas County Schools, leading the 27th largest school district in the nation and holding accountability for a combined student body and workforce of nearly 150,000 individuals.

Her work beyond education spans an equally broad range of institutions. She served as President of the Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts, where she more than doubled membership and raised over $1 million annually in support of the Mahaffey Theater. As Director of Advancement at Alpha House of Pinellas, she led strategic planning, community awareness, and fundraising. Most recently, she served as Chief Program Officer at the Early Learning Coalition, overseeing all program areas — from family services and developmental screening to provider contracts and quality improvement — while representing the organization across Pinellas County’s broader child welfare and foster care networks.

Mastry has also served on the boards of St. Anthony’s Hospital, Chi Chi Rodriguez Academy, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, the Juvenile Welfare Board, R-Club, and The Celma Mastry Ovarian Cancer Foundation.
