Activating knowledge, collaboration, and capital to accelerate social impact.

The Invitation

The nonprofit sector generates incredible impact and value to residents of St. Petersburg and the Tampa Bay region. Nearly every aspect of our lives is touched and improved in some way by nonprofit organizations dedicated to social good.

Nonprofits need expert counsel and talent to perform up to their potential, but too often the help they need is out of reach. That’s why the St. Petersburg Foundation started Catalyst for Good—a one-stop consultancy that builds infrastructure and capacity for nonprofits through hands-on coaching with a heavy emphasis on deliverables. Our team works along side talented nonprofit leaders as they guide their organizations through important transitions, from start up to scale up, to the formation of new initiatives, lines of business or changing market conditions.

We invite you to learn about Catalyst for Good and its potential for your organization. Contact Joe Hamilton or Karen Chassin for more information.

“Catalyst for Good is a unique program of organizational development and capacity building for social impact.”

Program Overview

The Catalyst for Good program builds infrastructure and capacity for nonprofits with unique solutions to community problems. It’s a one-stop consultancy with custom deliverables.

Three discrete phases of work set Catalyst for Good apart:

Inquiry. We begin with a deep dive into your organization’s needs, goals and pain points, providing a road map tailored to where you need to go. Our team excels at identifying the priority projects that will deliver the greatest return.

Coaching and Consulting Sessions. We’ve assembled a deep bench of some of the region’s top talent across the spectrum of nonprofit and business operations. From legal to financial, fundraising to technology, communications to human resources, we’ll pull in just the right expert partners for your 1 on 1 coaching sessions. Meet our team of experts.

Activation. With our talented team of producers, we build as we teach, helping you implement your plan for success. Learn the finer points of grant writing as we write a grant together. Sharpen accounting and banking skills as we set up systems and do the accounting work. Gain marketing skills as we build your website and establish a social media presence. This approach offers specialized, targeted skills to get you on your path.

"All services are tailored to the nonprofit's needs. This could mean building technology infrastructure, growing social media presence, tuning pitches to attract donors or building the operational nuts and bolts every organization needs."

  • For best results, we engaged individually with each organization rather than relying on a group training setting.
  • Each Catalyst for Good program is customized to meet the specific needs of the nonoprofit.
  • We’re big on deliverables and more deliverables: websites, networks, accounting, social media, legal work and more.
  • A Catalyst for Good engagement typically runs 3 months to complete 3 distinct program phases.
  • Catalyst for Good program investment is $20,000. The St. Petersburg Foundation works to match all program funding.
